LOCATION SCOUTING
- To help us to decide what our final locations will be, I have gone and looked at some potential locations that fit out theme and current ideas. The locations that I have looked at are mostly woodland and grassland which is vital for our storyline and mise en scène.
1. Cyclopark: Cyclopark is where my brother works therefore, it is easy for us to get to and permission to film in the car park area could be easily arranged. Along the edge of the car park, running parallel to the cars there is a narrow mud path/track enclosed by trees. The path would be a good place to film the beginning part of the film because the small size of the path makes it increases the anticipation however, it may be difficult to actually film here due to the narrow path.
Furthermore, filming the security dog here would not be morally doable because members of the public use the footpath and children may - due to the time of day that we need for the lighting to be correct. Having a security Rottweiler off of his lead here could potentially cause danger to members of the public.
2. Eltham Park North: This would be a good location to film the section of the opening sequence when the girl reaches a clearing, due to the fact that there is a narrow path that leads to a clearing. The area is easy to get to and not too enclosed, therefore, we would get our desired lighting for longer.
However, lots of people go for walks in this area at all hours because it looks over London so filming the scream here would be an issue. We could resolve this by just voice recording the scream at another time. Also, since it is a busy place it wouldn't be practical for us due to the fact that we have a short time for filming due to lighting; if people keep walking in the shot then we may run out of time.

3. Botany Marsh: Whilst talking to Julian (the owner of the security Rottweiler) about the location for filming, he mentioned that where he walks and trains Otto might be a good spot because nobody goes there and it is a big space. Therefore, I went to check it out.
It is the perfect location because there are lots of different areas for us to choose to film certain parts of the sequence.
4. My Garden Shed: Due to the fact that our plot requires a shed/work place we needed to find a location that includes that but also fits in with the rest of our environment. Therefore, my garden would be a good place for this; it is currently a bit overgrown due to the winter season and it also has trees and a shed with a stable like door. There are also hooks and poles that we can hang the fur and fake human flesh onto. The overall layout of the area is perfect to film the shots with the farmer in for our opening sequence.
The only fault with this location is that my garden is not too big, however, this is easily workable because we only need small shots of the farmer anyway. Furthermore, there are houses in the background, we can avoid this when filming and use camera angles and framing to enhance the feeling of isolation.
