On 31.12.2016 I ventured down to the New Forest to film the establishing drone footage for our film opening, the reason that we decided that it should be shot in the new forest was due to the fact that it is full of beautiful forest land. It was also convenient for me because my family live in the heart of the forest and also have a contact whose drone I could use along with their supervision.
That afternoon we drove out to a private land area which is where we shot the opening footage, we attempted 8 shots; some with a pond in the shot and some with just trees. We also played around with the angle and movement of the footage, sometimes I flew the drone along the edge of the trees, sometimes over them and even a tilt up them.
In my opinion the shot that we chose for the opening is the most appropriate paired with the plot, it is a plain shot, however this fits nicely with the other establishing shots that come after this footage. I did like the shots with the water in them due to the fact that the refection looked so clear and beautiful however we made a mutual agreement as a group to use the footage below.
